What is a giclée print?

Cassie Updated by Cassie

‘Giclée’ is a term that’s becoming outdated – the process and product is better summarised ‘fine art printing’ or‘archival pigment printing’. Regardless, it all refers to the practice of creating museum-grade prints through a digital print process. Fine art prints specifically use aqueous inks and high-end archival media.

Fine art printing uses specific equipment and inks that offer a much wider colour gamut than commercial printing methods, making it the ideal print process for art reproductions.

When we say‘archival’, we mean prints created with these materials will outlive us all, if cared for correctly!
